Job Description:
The Electrical Manager’s primary responsibility is to oversee all electrical activities during the construction of a solar energy facility. This includes supervising the installation of the substation, gen-tie line, and underground collection lines as well as reporting on their progress. The Electrical Manager will also ensure that the electrical contractors adhere to project designs, installation and testing methodologies, and quality control documentation requirements. The Electrical Manager will report to the AP&E Site Manager and the owner’s Project Manager.
This position is available as an independent contractor on a 1099 basis. The role requires full-time, onsite availability for up to six days and sixty hours per week. After every five weeks onsite, a one-week paid turnaround will be provided. Applicants are responsible for providing their own site vehicle, vehicle insurance, cell phone, and laptop computer.
Job Duties:
- Collaborate with the AP&E site team to plan and monitor project quality control activities and documentation for the electrical scope of work.
- Oversee and coordinate contractor activity for the installation of the electrical system for the project.
- Coordinate with the Engineer of Record and the owner’s electrical engineering team to review electrical designs and drawings and help coordinate the delivery and inspection of any electrical equipment delivered to the site.
- Assist the owner’s management team in coordinating with project stakeholders, system operators, and electrical regulatory authorities regarding the project’s construction, interconnection, and commissioning.
- Oversee the energization and LOTO procedures and provide walkdowns of the electrical scope of work.
- Coordinate activities with system operators, regulatory bodies, and commissioning teams to ensure a seamless energization process for the project.
- Inspect electrical installations, oversee electrical testing, and document and oversee the resolution of any non-conformities that may arise.
- Review the electrical scope of work, energization plans, LOTO policies and procedures, and equipment supply agreements.
- Review electrical punchlist items and as-built drawings for completeness and accuracy.
- Inspect electrical equipment and materials upon delivery to verify compliance with project requirements.
- Provide a recommendation for the owner’s Project Manager to accept completed electrical works.
- Document and report any issues to the AP&E Site Manager as well as the owner’s Project Manager.
- Submit daily and weekly reports on suppliers’ and contractors’ electrical construction activities to the AP&E Site Manager and owner’s Project Manager.
- Verify that the SCADA installation meets the full project specifications and that the EPC contractor has created a clear commissioning process.

Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years of supervisory experience in electrical construction of utility-scale renewable energy generation facilities with at least two years of solar project construction experience.
- Proficiency in reading and comprehending engineering blueprints, electrical studies, and drawings.
- Thorough knowledge of underground optical fiber, MV cable, substation, transmission line, and high, medium, and low-voltage construction.
- Proficiency in low- and medium-voltage cable splicing procedures.
- Proficiency in commissioning and energization procedures for renewable energy facilities.
- Strong adherence to safety standards and OSHA regulations.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
