Assistant Site Manager – Solar

Contract Length: March 1, 2025 – January 2027

Job Description: 

The Assistant Site Manager will provide assistance to the AP&E Site Manager and the client’s Project Manager to ensure that all project contracts are fully implemented through all phases of construction for a utility-scale solar project. The Assistant Site Manager will oversee all aspects of project construction including assisting with walkdowns and other inspections to ensure contractor compliance with design specifications, permits, and installation guidelines.

This position is available as an independent contractor on a 1099 basis. The role requires full-time onsite availability for up to six days and sixty hours per week. After every five weeks onsite, a one-week paid turnaround will be provided. Applicants are responsible for providing their own site vehicle, vehicle insurance, cell phone, and laptop computer.

Job Duties: 

  • Support the AP&E Site Manager in acting as the onsite representative for the owner
  • Oversee construction of the project and verify all project quality documentation.
  • Ensure the project remains in compliance with all permits and other stakeholder documents.
  • Support the owner’s Project Manager and AP&E Site Manager in all areas including the tracking of construction progress, engineering reviews, change order requests, schedule variances and projections, equipment arrivals and demurrage, safety metrics, and weather delays.
  • Assist the AP&E Site Manager in reviewing all project contracts, engineering drawings, agreements, permits, and other documentation to verify that contractor performance aligns with project requirements.
  • Coordinate contractors, suppliers, operations personnel, and any subcontractors on the site.
  • Actively participate in site safety meetings and initiatives.
  • Validate construction progress and milestone accomplishments against the project schedule.
  • Document non-conformities and track through resolution.
  • Facilitate communication between contractors, equipment suppliers, operations personnel, landowners, and owner’s consultants on the site.
  • Provide oversight to verify contractor compliance with project specifications.
  • Assist the AP&E Site Manager with job book review and completion.
  • Collaborate with the AP&E site team to plan and monitor project quality control activities and documentation.
  • Submit daily and weekly reports on suppliers’ and contractors’ construction activities to the AP&E Site Manager and owner’s Project Manager.
  • Supervise the correction of the EPC contractor’s punchlist items.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of supervisory experience in the construction of utility-scale renewable energy generation facilities with at least two years of solar project construction experience.
  • Proficiency in reading and comprehending engineering blueprints, electrical studies, and drawings.
  • Strong adherence to safety standards and OSHA regulations.
  • Proficiency in reading, understanding, and interpreting contractual agreements, project documentation, and permits.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented and efficient in task execution.
